Making
Money from Small Niche Web Sites:
I
get allot of emails every day asking me how to make money
from niche web sites, so here is My answer. Niche website's
make money because they fill a small search void and 70% -
85% of their traffic comes from search engines like Google
and Yahoo simply because they are one of a few if not the
only site catering to to that search term so they get placed
on the first page for search results of that particular term.
When people search for that term your site will come up on
the first page in the search engines if you tweak it right
(doing some SEO) and you can make money from 3 angles on the
site:
What's
a good niche ? A spin off of a very popular topic. Use the
S.E.O
Keyword Tool to find out what search terms are popular
related to the niche and use those Keywords to create the
web site name. At the time I'm writing this for example the
T-Mobile G1 phone is a hot item now but there are probably
1000 website's already created with that term so your best
bet is to try get a spin off topic from that name. Example
instead of registering TmobileG1forum.net try for a more specific
topic (niche) like G1phoneSoftware.com and you could use the
site to review software available for the G1 phone. Once you
identify what name you are gonna choose then you buy it at
1and1.com
they have the best prices on domain names and they don't try
to sell you all that extra fluff like Godaddy does.
Write
like 10 software reviews and place Kontera code in the pages.
Place Adsense and Copeac ads in your standard ad slots. Use
Pog Ads for
Ad links that you can blend in with your regulars. You can
then create a Store page to sell accessories for the G1 phone
(like leather cases & screen protectors) using the FatFree
Shopping Cart software ( free to install and it's cut &
paste ) You can collect payments online with FatFree using
both Paypal and Google Checkout. Get the accessories from
an online store (just search for one on Google ) that will
drop ship them for you and mark up each item 20%. Every major
online store allows has an option when you buy to use the
bill to address (yours) and a ship
to address ( your customer's ) this is called drop
shipping and the best part is you don't have to stock anything,
you are just the middle man. E-business baby !
Tweak
the pages using H1 & H2 fonts as your titles and make
sure you add keywords in the head of each page, for this phone
example we would use keywords like: G1 phone,
Tmobile G1, T-mobile G1phone etc.
Next
you need to promote it (tweak it )! add the url to major search
engines like Google, Yahoo and Live.
Join social bookmaking sites like Digg
and Technorati
to post a link to your site and post a link for each article
you create. Join a forum related to the niche
of your site for this example you would join a cell phone
forum (use Google to find one ) and use your website address
as your signature link. Join Yahoo Answers
and search for questions related to the G1 phone and answer
them posting your web site link as a resource. Sign up for
a Bookmarking Button service (see the share button below)
like AddThis
and place buttons at the top and botton of your articles as
this will allow your readers to bookmark the page and also
share it with their friends on popular social networking sites
Myspace, High
School and Facebook.
Use
a traffic monitoring program like Google
Analytics ( I use it ). It allows you to see where your
traffic is coming from with the major search engines and also
what key words they search for to get to your site. Use those
key words more in your pages to increase your search rank.
In
about 2 months the site will start to make like $2 - $3 a
day. Build another niche site. I try to build at least two
every week. If you build like 2 niche sites a week in a year
you will have a 104 web sites. If they each make $2 a day
thats equals a salary of $75,920 a year. Trust me when I tell
you this,start now. You will be laughing strait to the Bank
